Stretching from Peterborough to Childers Cove (22 kms east of Warrnambool) the Bay of Islands Coastal Park protects a 32 kilometre long narrow strip of coastal heathland and a series of secluded coves protecting rare flora and fauna. Just off shore ancient limestone pillars stand tall in the ocean while caves, arches and grottos provide panoramic viewing. The Bay of Martyrs on the outskirts of Peterborough, is not to be missed, the coastal views are truly spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset when the coast reveals its true colours. There are car parks along the way, please use them to gain access to the lookouts with tracks taking you to the sandy beaches which are accessible such as the Bay of Martyrs. No camping is permitted in the Bay of Islands Coastal Park or the Port Campbell National Park. Dogs are not permitted in the Coastal Park. Guide dogs and guide dogs in training are permitted in all National Parks if they are accompanying visually impaired people and wearing appropriate identifying jackets.
